US Auctions Live is a live auction market place for buyers and sellers. We have categories for just about everything you can buy or sell on the internet.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We wanted to provide a market place for people in the US to be able to buy and sell with confidence. If we keep it in the general region we can monitor all users to prevent fraud. So the name US Auctions Live seemed appropriate.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We have maintained the basic feel of Ebay with a few extras. We have drastically lowered the fees compared to the competition. We are constantly researching new ways to improve our site and keep it as user friendly as we can.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To provide the best alternative to Ebay possible, so we can bring buyers and sellers together. Especially in this time where former Ebay users are looking for alternatives. We want to provide them with a safe, easy to use platform.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
We would do a massive amount of marketing.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely that would be wonderful!
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing.. With all of these auction sites popping up everywhere the auction world is getting flooded with sites trying to mimic Ebay. the problem with them is they are all so new and they don't have the traffic. It is overwhelming to the sellers who are looking for a good alternative.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Social Sites, Forums, and placing ads anywhere and everywhere.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
What people don't realize is the mega amount of work that goes into building and running a website. The hours spent marketing and researching ways to make it better is more than I expected it would be. But, it is well worth it.
