Cyprus with Babies! Interview

By Interviewer at 10/26/09 23:53

Name of your website?

Cyprus with Babies!

Your name?

Michele

Your Location (city, etc)

Limassol

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Cyprus with Babies! Limassol based company, offering quality baby equipment for hire in Limassol tourist districts of Cyprus.

Available equipment includes: travel cots, high chairs, push chairs, car seats, booster cushions, baby gates, bed guards and much more...

A small and friendly company who provide a personal service. All enquiries are answered within 24hrs and often sooner!

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We were a new company offering a unique service in the Limassol tourist districts of Cyprus so we wanted to bring attention to us as simply and quickly as possible.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My very first website was built in 2000 and called Cyprus4Holidays.co.uk - it was aimed towards first time visitors to Cyprus as we had been holidaying here for 15yrs. My latest website: CypruswithBabies! was launched on the internet in June 2008.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It describes exactly what it is....

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We are the only company in Limassol who offers this unique service to both holidaymakers travelling with tour operators or independently. Our services are often used by ex-pats who are having family to stay for holidays and bringing their young children or grandchildren. Many don't want to buy extra equipment so our site and service is very useful. We are a small family business and our website is built as such. All our visitors receive personal attention and we are on hand if they need any kind of advice whilst in Cyprus.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We hope this business will see us into our retirement here in Cyprus. We don't want to be working a Monday to Friday, 9 till 5 office job as we came to Cyprus for a totally different lifestyle. We're not old enough to retire just yet and this seems to suit us very nicely just now.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

As we are very new, investment and time is being utilised a little more in comparison to the success. But - it's still early days for us!

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Probably more advertising locally but most definitely outside of Cyprus throughout UK and Europe.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, most definitely!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None so far - other than the frustration of getting the website to look and feel just right.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Keywords and tags for SEO

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

eBay!

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It hasn't really. I'd already had some experience in the past so knew it would be time consuming to start with.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We opened the website in 2007 as a free site with moonfruit.com and also a blogspot site but we revamped the whole site in June 2008 and then purchased our domain name www.cypruswithbabies.com

Do you operate any other websites?

Yes, my husband runs a successful eBay Shop http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cyprus4Holidays, where he sells mainly Cyprus Stamps, Cyprus Memorabilia and Collectables. He used to collect stamps as a hobby and since moving from UK to Cyprus he changed direction into collecting Cyprus stamps. After building up a number of "spares" or duplicates, he decided to try selling them on eBay. The whole thing just snowballed from there. We also have a classified advert on our eBay shop site for Cyprus with Babies! so it's dual purpose...

What is your website address?

Cyprus with Babies!
