Browning Reserve Group Interview

California real estate Browning Reserve Group Interview
Name of your website?

Browning Reserve Group

Your name?

Mike

Your Location (city, etc)

Offices in Sacramento, CA and Las Vegas, NV.

When did you start your website and why?

About six years ago. The website first just served as an electronic business card (contact information). Now our clients submit RFP’s via the website which has made our services available around the clock and not just when we can answer the phones.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

The website is a tool and not our product. Clients can request work from us or just locate contact information.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Creating and running the site has not been difficult. We have had to deal with a local hosting service that was sold to a larger company. With the local guys, we were on first name basis and received any kind of help we needed. Once the local host was sold, we lost that personal relationship. We dropped the new hosting company and went with one of the mainstay hosting companies (actually for a lot less money and with way more features).

What has been the easist past of operating your website?

As mentioned in the previous answer, the website has been generally easy to operate. It is really a very simple site.

Who maintains your website and why?

I am our webmaster because I was a software engineer in a past life. I was involved with e-commerce applications at a major US telecom giant.

Tell us how your business has benfited from your website?

Our website allows our clients to request work anytime day or night. We receive those requests no matter where we are working in the world. We do not have to have humans taking work requests over the phones.

Tell us about your website

Our website is barebones simple. The site contains sample work (reserve studies), contact information, request for proposal forms, company information and a couple industry related links.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

eCommerce is already saving companies enormous amounts of time and money. As the world web community matures, most all transactions will occur through some form of web interface. Bill paying and banking are already reaping the benefits. Our business has benefited greatly by shifting to electronic documents. In the past our reports had to be physically reproduced and shipped via parcel postage. The time and expense involved was considerable. Today most of our clients prefer electronic documents, so we have nearly eliminated costly distribution costs and made our clients happy at the same time (win-win).

What are your views on SEO?

SEO is simply the natural evolution of marketing. Achieving the best page ranking is just as important as finding the right time slot for a television advertising campaign.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Search engines have only helped. We have undeniably received new clients based on hits to our website from search engines.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our email signatures include links to our RFP page. Also, when we provide onsite training and consultation, we strongly recommend our website as our preferred interface. So far the most significant website promotion has simply been to verbally direct clients to use our website when they call to request services.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

We have just begun to utilize directories, but we have not yet been able to quantify the results. Our market is a niche and most directories do not contain a pertinent category for our services (we usually end up in a generic real estate consulting category).

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Eliminate spam.

How will the web change the world?

It will take a very long time, but eventually global knowledge and idea sharing will revolutionize the world for the greater good. Bad ideas will die and great ideas will flourish. Knowledge will be of the people, by the people and for the people (ultimate global democracy).

What is your website address?
