What will happen at my first appointment?

During your first visit we will help you get acquainted with us and meet Dr. Franck.

We understand that each patient is unique and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve.

Your first dental visit will consist of a comprehensive examination, which includes an oral cancer screening, TMJ analysis, periodontal evaluation and examination of teeth. We will also take a series of X-rays and additional intra-oral photographs. This important visit will allow us to access your dental health and discuss ways to improve and maintain a healthy smile for a lifetime.

What is tooth whitening? Is it safe?

Whitening is any process that will make teeth appear whiter. There are two types of products for whitening, bleaching products and non-bleaching.

Non-bleaching products work by physical or chemical agents to remove surface stains only. Examples are bleaching toothpastes that polish the tooth with abrasives

A bleaching product can change the natural color of the tooth. The bleach removes deep stains and surface stains. Examples are crest white strips, professional take-home bleaching supplies and in-office bleaching products

Tooth whitening material is comprised of carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. Fluoride, potassium or nitrate can be added to reduce tooth sensitivity.

The mechanism of tooth whitening involves the unstable peroxide chemically breaking down larger pigmented organic molecules within the enamel matrix into smaller less pigmented molecules.
