QBike Interview Name of your website?QBike Your name? David Alyea Your Location (city, etc) San Francisco, CA Can you summarize what QBike is all about? QBike was created for my own use in 1998 as I was searching for bike and triathlon gear and spent a lot of time surfing the web. I decided to bring together all the best biking and triathlon sites and make a bike, bike parts, and clothing search engine. Pretty soon, a lot of my friends were using it, and then it got listed in many of the top search engines. Now, QBike is much more than a bike price search engine, but also a hub for bike news, classified, buying guides, and lots more.~~ What is the coolest thing on QBike? We have a few new features which are really awesome! The first is our road bike finder. You tell us how much you want to spend and what size you're looking for, and then we quickly (it's AJAX) show you all the bikes matching your criteria. You can then filter by bike manufacturer and type of listing, and soon, we'll have even more ways to help you hone in on your perfect road bike. There is a mountain bike finder, too. The other cool thing is our Google Gadget, which lets you view one road bike at a time and save your choices for further review and comparison. Does QBike participate in community activities? I am personally involved with biking advocacy in San Francisco, especially when it comes to crosswalk safety. I was one of the founders of SF Tri Club in 2002, which has a Tri-To-Help arm that does community service and other outreach. Sometimes we get emails from bike races and individual people looking for sponsorship- and sometimes we help out where we can. How did you decide on a name for your website? The key for me was to have a short domain name, so I wanted ebike or ibike or such. Well, the only good one left was QBike, and I was really focused on writing a search engine, which uses database queries, so QBike seemed like a fitting site name. What is your website address?
