When did you start your website and why?
I started thinking about ownersrentals.com about seven years ago when I was living in Spain. I had moved to Spain from the UK for a better life and had some rental villas I used to rent out to holiday makers. I was getting frustrated with the companies I was using and thought I would design a better more user friendly vacation rentals website myself. I left Spain and traveled around the world with my base in Cairns Australia. Whilst traveling I done loads of market research and met hundreds of owners and travelers from all corners of the world.
Then I finally settled in Vancouver and started the designing of the website. With lots of hard work and frustration I finally got the site I wanted and launched it in February 2004. After 18 months I went to a web design company called InVancouver and we totally redesigned it and made it more user friendly and SEO friendly and I'm proud to say with a great team behind me and client base we are now on page 1 of Google for keyword Vacation Rentals. With offices in Vancouver and Valencia Spain. Thank you to everyone involved.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
The internet is growing at such a fast pace, who knows where it will go. You have these sites of mass collaboration and communities coming together via site like my space ect. The internet has taken over but I feel it's a bit sad when you go for a coffee and everyone's buried in laptop/note books or texting, or pod casting with head phones, it just seems really unsociable sometimes or couple walking down the street hand in hand with ipods on. I think wow there having a really good time they don’t even have to talk on a date. The internet brings people together but I think it also isolates them. I think there's a time and place for the internet.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Its a must, every site must have it.But there's good and bad SEO just do your homework. My advise is type in SEO in your area and see who comes up on page 1 of Google, cos if they can't get there own site there they will never get yours.
