It is an online community where people can sign up and make friends, have their own profile page, write blogs, listen to Bhutanese music, participate in forums and so on.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The popularity of social networking websites and people's interest in making friends.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
It was in 2001, and it was a personal website.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Well Bhutan means the country "Bhutan" and "Live" is as in "Recent, current etc". So the site is name around that it represents current Bhutan and the people.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Well it is different from other social networking sites in that this site is basically for the people from Bhutan and not as broad as the other sites tend to be.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Sell it or keep it for income, which ever turns out better.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The site is very growing. I am happy at how its turning out.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would hire excellent programmers, and have many of the features that international sites like mine have.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Well the site is growing at a healthy rate right now, and so far I have been able to keep up with it. But if it were to grow at an alarming rate, I'd have to do more to keep up with it.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The cost mainly consists of web hosting costs. I didnt expect the site to consume alot of bandwidth and space.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge was getting people to sign up when the site was new.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of Mouth.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Well, as it grew, it had turned out to be a little hard to moderate the site. Run maintenance and keep the site in running condition
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It is its first year of running and I will keep it running as long as there are visitors or members signing up and actively participating in the site.
