Name of your website?eXtreme Estate Sales
Your name?
Roger H.
Your Location (city, etc)
Tempe
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Our site is a virtual online garage sale, yard sale, moving sale, rummage sale and classified listings site. What’s unique about this site though, is the fact that you can search our database of items in so many ways: by item name, state, city, category, date of sale, or sale type.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The idea that it would help people save time, money, GAS!, if they could see all the items, conditions and prices of things being sold at a garage sale, rummage sale, moving sale, yard sale or estate sale.
WHo would it help the most?
I think it would greatly benefit both buyers and sellers, by suppling the information that would bring them together to make a transaction.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Research, experience, clarity to consumers.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We allow a person to list ALL of thier sale items, not just place a "sales" listing. We have maps to the sales and weather forcasts. As a buyer or shopper you can search for items in so many ways (i.e. by state, city, category, item name, date of sale, etc.)
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to make this the number 1 web site for Estate sales, Garage Sales, Rummage Sales, Moving Sales and Yard Sales.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would do alot more traditional marketing.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I'm hosted at a great company (Godaddy.com) and would have no problem scaling my website to the demand. I also have ample experience in the IT industry with many resources available at hand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Googles "sandbox" and the wait for my site to get "out there" to any great extent.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing and site recognition!
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
In past experience I have used organic SEO with some success, supplemented with traditional marketing.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site was only launched a few weeks ago. I never develop a site that I don't run for at least 3 years before I take it down, so we have some time yet before I make such a decision.
Why should people try your site?
It's FREE! As a seller, you can use all the basic functions needed to successfully sell your items. So even if you use a different method to advertise your sale & items, what will it hurt to list them on our site also?
