That Kool Band Interview

By Interviewer at 05/11/07 19:04

Arizona bands That Kool Band Interview
Name of your website? (NOT url, http://etc)

http://www.thatkoolband.com

Your name?

Eddie Kij

Your Location (city, etc)

Scottsdale Arizona

When did you start your website and why?

We started our website in January 2007 to help spread the word about our unique band. We are the only live band in Arizona who performs Beach Music and also a tribute to the Beach Boys

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Our website was designed and built to showcase the talent of our band mates. We are five musicians who are dedicated to replicating nostalgic music from the 50's to the 80's. It is important to us to maintain the sound and integrity of the original recordings. We spend countless hours recreating the original voicings of each of the songs that we perform.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

Choosing the content for our site has been the biggest challenge. We love all the music that we play and selecting a handfull of songs to showcase has been difficult. We wish that we could post hundreds of songs instead of a dozen or so.

What has been the easist past of operating your website?

Answering the emails from our growing fan base. It really ads validity to our love of the Oldies.

What was your biggest mistake?

Our biggest mistake was not building a website sooner. Things change quickly when you establish a web presence

Who maintains your website and why?

I'm Eddie Kij, the leader of That Kool Band. I recruited all the members of the band and sold them on the concept. They all agreed that I should be the one to build and maintain the site.

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

No matter how good you are, people want proof. We have audio and live video feeds from some of our concerts posted on our site. People love it because they can see and hear us performing live with the click of their mouse. Large corporations who contact us from other States can see and hear the band they are going to hire for their events. it's great for us and great for them.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I look for it to continue to expand. We still need face to face contact and I hope that never goes away.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

No Opinion

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Getting placement is difficult unless you have a large budget. Smaller business with little or no advertising budget don't get much help from the major search engines and thats a shame.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Handing out our business cards at our live performances helps. We also have a large banner with our web address that we use in our gigs.

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Trying to get listed for free on the search engines. Forget about it.

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

Easy free listing access.

You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:

I would love to see a new search engine established that is non profit and interested only in promoting small businesses. Do you ever see that happening?

What is your website address?

http://www.thatkoolband.com
