What inspired you to launch your own website?
Studies show that the Internet has become the number 1 place people turn to find an Attorney. In many cases people who have been referred or find an Attorney in print advertisement, will still search the Internet to the find the Attorney's Website for more information about that attorney's services, education, experience, location and legal help information.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
James Novak, Arizona Attorney has 3 websites for the Law Firm dedicated to 1)Criminal Defense 2) DUI & Criminal Defense and 3) Drug Crimes & Criminal Defense Representation. They were all launched within the last 3 year years. However, James Novak has been in practice well over 11 years.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
By Area of Practice for which the Firm is dedicated. The law firm of James Novak is dedicated 100% to Criminal, DUI, & Drug crime defenses.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
The Websites of the law Firm of James Novak provide a wealth of information to the public to help them gain insight into such things as follows: What steps should a person take when charged with a crime; legal information about the process; what services James Novak, Attorney at law will provide to help them through these processes, and provide a proactive, aggressive, defense. It explains further why experience matters in selecting an attorney, and includes his vast amount of qualifications, education, and experiences. The website also provides a DUI, Criminal Defense, and legal blog.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To Maintain the Firm's goals of providing the best possible legal representation for Criminal, Dui, and drug crimes defenses.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It is one thing to have a Website. But a Website is only as good as it's optimization and ability to be found when someone is looking for Attorney services. The success of you web-site depends greatly on what you do with it-such as placing it on industry directories, paying for sponsored or paid Ads on the internet, Optimization (SEO) services, in an effort to increase visibility and exposure on major search engines. I have found at least for now, that Internet advertising is far less expensive than print (such as print yellow pages) And that the return on investment is greater, because you are stepping up to the needs of someone who is searching the web for your services.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Simple--would not change, but always look to increase advertising on the net, news media outlets, such as TV, Radio, etc.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Your web site should be constantly evolving with change, and demands. A web site that does not change or evolve will get left behind as will that Company. You must always be cognizant of your competition, market demands, technology changes, laws, optimization needs, availability of advertising resources, and keep an open eye on anything that will give you an edge on exposure.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Anything on the internet dealing with Finding an Attorney/Lawyer or legal help is the most prized real estate on the net right now. One example is bidding wars for key search words and phrases with the pay-per-click campaigns with major search engines. The costs can be astronomical, especially in Arizona, which is one of the most competitive legal markets in the US.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Sponsored/Paid Advertising, Pay-per-click campaigns, and utilization of third party expert SEO Services,
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I wish to focus primarily on providing legal services to my clients. I do not want to be distracted by the Web site Advertising/Needs of the Firm. However, it is critical for an Attorney in private practice to maintain some extent of involvement and familiarity with where their clients are finding them. This is where either trained staff, or third party experts are critically needed. Time demands dictate. This way the Attorney can focus 100% on providing expert legal services.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
As long as the Firm continues.
