What inspired you to launch your own website?

Teaching Self Defense and Jiu-Jitsu in Calgary, I find it necessary to have an online presence

Brain Storming

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Practical and realistic training

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To have several other income earning sites online

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

At the moment the return does not equal the time invested

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Much more time invested into SEO Develop more informational products Online video products Membership sites

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, I commit a great deal of time to Jiu-Jitsu and Self Defense. It is a more than a hobby - A passion, income, and lifestyle.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Automating more of the processes. I spend far too much time answering e-mails, answering the phone and generally non-income related tasks

What has been your biggest challenge?

Not enough hours in the day So much to learn So much to do on top of working, organising classes, having a family etc

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Organic positioning for good keywords (My main site is locally based service)

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Lots of hands on time involved

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

This one is relatively new, I have other running for much longer

To have a site that produces a truly passive income from a one-time effort
