Please give us a short summary of your website?
It's a portal with links and information about everything Alberta. Whether you want to move to Alberta, are looking for a job in Fort McMurray, or want to do some travel in Wild Rose Country, you will find it on our site.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
A lot of my friends across in other parts of Canada have this idea that Alberta roads are paved with gold (or rather, black gold). And a lot of them had questions about moving to Alberta and had no idea where to start, so I put the site together as a hobby to answer some of their questions.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website. Please bear with me -- I'm a newbie!
How did you decide on a name for your website?
There is a popular Alberta beef bumper sticker that says "I (heart) Alberta Beef). I thought they could have stopped at Alberta.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
There are lots of sites out there that incorporate parts of what I want to do, but none of them are one-stop-shopping sites where you can find everything you're looking for.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Keep it for income.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Right now it's a hobby. It does take up a lot of my time though because there is a huge learning curve just starting out, but you know what they say -- smooth seas do not make skillful sailors.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Make it look more professional. :>)
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Probably not -- I would have to hire someone to help me updte it.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
A couple of challenges with the hosting provider. Other than that the biggest headache has been my own nitpickiness.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Building the site -- I have zero experience.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Just started promoted it, so I'll have to get back to you on that one.
