Jest Tidbits is a community minded website that lists, community events, organizations and information about Didsbury, AB. Our newsletter also offers jokes, riddles, trivia and a sense of humor to go with your coffee.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I thought about writing a newsletter, my family encouraged me to give it a shot and after a few nudges Jest Tidbits was born.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was built back in 2000 or so.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I wanted to create a coffee type newsletter with a community twist. A few jokes and bits of information. I think the name fits.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I hope to have this turn into more of a forum, a voice for the people of Didsbury.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I hope to get the community more involved. The more information I can relate to the public about Didsbury and community events the better. I also hope that members of the community would share their stories, jokes, etc.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Just started so it is too early to tell.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
My website would be more sophisticated and marketing would reach further.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I am ready willing and able to give it my best shot!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
My computer decided to bite the dust. Had to be replaced, wasn't counting on that.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing. It's not my forte.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth. Haven'at done much marketing to this point.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It hasn't.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
