Name of your website?Gotta Be by K.D
Your name?
Kellie Dorland
Your Location (city, etc)
Wainwright
Please give us a short summary of your website?
My website showcases my services that I offer out of my home-based business. Nails, Make-up, and other body treatments.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Internet is the way of life now a days and what a better way to reach people that may be traveling through, than by the internet!
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website is my current business that I offer. I am a stay at home mom that is re-entering the work force!
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I thought over many names and being my initials are K.D I kinda blended an all time favorite family food with my own flavor. Kraft Dinner is known by many many women and it is something that you will never forget once you hear my business name Gotta Be by K.D
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I offer beauty services at a reasonable rate. I am not out to make a fortune, I know what it feels like to spend and spend everyone one one or two things to pamper myself and I think that people really need to be thought of when one opens a business as well as the proprietor.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To have my own successfully run business that offers reasonable prices and really good products. And to be able to help support my family with income and turn our home from a one income family to a two income family!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It always initially takes money to make money. I have tried to keep my investment costly but know that when my name and business get out there in the internet or newspapers or word of mouth it will pay off in no time!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I don't think I would, jumping into something too big at once only ends up flopping. I want to build it up no matter how much money I have to start it up. Maybe a few more pictures or perhaps not second hand furniture would take place, but that is not important to me, reaching out to customers and building it from ground up is what I want to do!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I always put my children's needs first but being a mom I know how to manage my time in that I know how not to take time away from my children and keep my business time seperate. No matter how successful my company may be in the future, my family comes first!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Knock on wood, none yet, but always prepared for something in the future! Being away from my family now even for the 2 or 3 days is really different, being a stay at home mom is what I am so used to that doing something for me feels a bit different!
What has been your biggest challenge?
Being able to go away for my courses and make sure my kids don't miss a hockey game, or riding lesson or swimming lesson. Family has been a huge help when it comes time for my 3 day get-a-way for a new course.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth and internet!
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Adding another task for my daily list of things to do really doesn't affect my daily routine. I am a mom, multi-tasking is what I do best!
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I will keep it up regardless, I love what I do and I am very happy with the end result of my work.
What is your perception of another reason you started you business?
TO prove to myself that a mom is more that a woman tending to her children and that her life has just as much importance as anyone else who works in the workplace regularily. A mom can be successful at anything she puts her mind to, it may require a bit more multi-tasking but nothing can stop a mom from reaching her goals in life!
